Overview

As part of BJC Health Care, Parkland Health Center offers a unique combination of world‑class medicine along with deep local roots and rich history. It operates two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri—a full‑service acute care hospital in Farmington and a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre. Parkland provides quality inpatient and outpatient services to the county and surrounding areas in southeastern Missouri.

Farmington campus offers a continuum of inpatient, medical‑surgical and ICU, obstetrics and emergency services, plus oncology, infusion, wound care and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre is a rural emergency hospital offering emergency, observation, lab, radiology and sleep study services.

The Emergency Room supports triage, diagnosis and treatment of patients around the clock, irrespective of ability to pay.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment; educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance; engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other inter‑professional team members and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner – a safety‑sensitive position.
