Additional Information About the Role
The OB Department provides support for inpatient and outpatient gynecology, obstetrical, and newborn care to patients in need of OB nursing services inclusive of treatment, medication, patient teaching and discharge planning.
Requires hospital-based OB, L&D, Post‑Partum and/or Nursery nursing experience to be considered for an interview.
PRN – 12‑Hour Shifts – Rotating (must have availability to work days or nights based on department needs).
To maintain PRN employment status, requires working 24 hours every six weeks.
Department DescriptionLevel I Nursery, 5 Labor and Triage Suites, 6 Private Rooms, 4 Semi‑Private Rooms, Patient Volume: 40 to 60 per month.
Role PurposeProvides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
