Job OverviewThe Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all of the activities of a construction site according to project blueprints and schedule plans. Position duties include coordinating subcontractors, performing quality control, safety checks, and providing on‑site direction when preparing construction sites. This position is classified as “safety‑sensitive.”
Key Responsibilities- Manages a team of workers, including work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation
- Creates cost estimates for labor, supplies, materials and other project costs
- Collaborates with clients, Project Managers, and other construction management to determine budget and timeline
- Coordinates materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
- Creates schedules for workers and subcontractors
- Hires additional subcontractors and assigns work accordingly
- Maintains a daily log for the job site’s operations, reporting to management as necessary
- Makes changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines
- Implements management techniques that are cost‑effective and efficient
- Collaborates with clients, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors and staff on site and others to prevent scope “creep”
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant construction‑related discipline, such as construction management or engineering
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in construction management; superintendent experience highly preferred
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR)
- OSHA‑30 certification and thorough knowledge of OSHA safety requirements
- Strong project management skills with knowledge of construction budgeting best‑in‑industry practices
- Collaboration skills and ability to maintain relationships with clients and crews
- Ability to read blueprints, CAD drawings, design layouts, and other construction documents
- Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and maintenance
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and quality management skills; problem‑solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and working independently
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Willing to travel frequently, support long‑term assignments, and work nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary
- Strong planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingencies
- Effective leadership abilities; motivation, goal setting, conflict resolution
- Ability to ensure compliance with CMMC, FAR, and accounting standards for all federal efforts
Location – This project is located in Farmington, NM. Subsequent projects may be nationally based.
Travel – Expected to travel to project locations, sometimes nationally.
Construction site environment – Physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. May be exposed to high noise levels.
