Description: The Minnesota HOSA Local Chapter Advisor serves as the primary leader, mentor, and facilitator for a school-based, student-led, MN HOSA chapter. Advisors play a critical role in helping students explore healthcare careers, develop leadership skills, engage in service learning, and participate in local, state, and national HOSA programs. The advisor fosters a student-led chapter environment while providing guidance, support, and oversight to ensure a meaningful and successful experience for all members.
Establish and maintain an active Minnesota HOSA chapter. Secure support and approval from school administration for chapter start-up, travel and conference participation. Complete chapter registration and membership requirements as outlined by MN HOSA Maintain communication with MNHOSA to stay informed of state and national opportunities. Ensure compliance with school policies and HOSA/MN HOSA guidelines
Recruit and support student members. Facilitate the election and training of chapter officers. Encourage students to take ownership of chapter activities and decision-making. Develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and professionalism among members Recognize and celebrate student achievements
Program Planning & Chapter Activities
Guide students in developing and implementing an annual Program of Work. Support chapter meetings, service projects, career exploration activities, and fundraising efforts. Connect chapter activities to healthcare careers, workforce needs, and health science education
Nominal Stipend: The district will pay a fixed stipend as delineated in the Tiger Athletic, Arts, and Activities (TAAA) matrix, Column H The stipend amount is considered a "nominal stipend". The amount of the stipend will not change based on the number of daily hours that are devoted to coaching/advisor duties or the team's level of success. If enrollment is not met, the district may make staffing reductions that reflect program level offerings within the first two weeks of the program.
Any service provided during this two week timeframe will be paid on a weekly pro-rated basis. In addition, if the selected candidate is unable to fulfill coaching/advising duties for five or more days, the stipend paid will be pro-rated.
