SUMMARY
Souder, Miller & Associates is recruiting a full-time CAD Tech II-III for the Water Resources Technical Sector in the Farmington, NM office. We are seeking a dynamic drafter who can multitask between numerous projects while maintaining effective communication with the remainder of the team. The CAD Tech II-III will directly support and coordinate with the Project Manager and design team. The candidate must be familiar with the application of principles, methods, and techniques of engineering technology and be able to complete a variety of tasks in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Knowledge of national CAD Standards and proficient operation of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Assists in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
- Processes various forms of data such as XML files, point data, GIS data, shape files, Land Desktop, etc.
- Creates, utilizes, and modifies plans, profiles, alignments, sample lines, and section views.
- Ensures plan and profile accuracy, providing detailed and accurate drawings.
- Creates, manages, and edits line‑type styles, text styles, label styles, point‑group styles, etc.
- Creates, manages, and edits design surfaces using feature lines, corridors, 3‑D polylines, point data, or a combination.
- Operates plans that utilize ctb files and stb files.
- Creates, manages, and edits sheet set managers for complex projects while coordinating with support staff.
- Prepares medium to complex design computations and quantity estimates.
- Performs design of portions of non‑routine projects or entire routine projects under infrequent supervision.
- Assists in the preparation of drawings, and exhibits for reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and permits.
- Performs CAD drafting regularly to reduce designs to final drawings.
- Understands civil terminology and concepts related to civil engineering and construction practices.
- Responsible for job‑specific quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
- Works with a medium level of supervision.
- Assists in the development of probable cost estimates for projects within the department.
- Participates in design review and assists in preparing bids.
- Implements regulatory standards and permitting requirements.
- Trains other staff members on CAD Standards, as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
$27.00-$35.00 per hour
TRAVELUp to 25%
JOB REQUIREMENTS- Minimum high school diploma required; associate degree in drafting and design preferred.
- Minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test and have an acceptable motor vehicle record to drive a company vehicle.
- Not a remote position.
