Position SummaryRSI is currently recruiting for Project Engineer II. This position is located at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The role supervises engineering activities of all disciplines on a project or designated portions for the global business unit, plans and directs engineering assignments, and provides technical and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation of complex systems to meet technical requirements.
The project has moved past the design phase and is moving into the installation and construction phase.
- Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering discipline in support of facility and process construction and installation.
- Apply broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the preparation of complex engineering analyses.
- Perform all aspects of work in engineering operations within discipline.
- Perform conventional design and analysis.
- Provide construction and project support.
- May lead projects and supervise the work of others.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Utilize engineering technology to accomplish work.
- Make recommendations and advise on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
- Perform risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques.
- Provide system integration within and across disciplines.
- May provide direction to technicians.
- Continuously improve work processes to meet customer needs.
- Duties may include preparation of calculations, drawings, data sheets, specifications, reports, reviews, studies and estimates (both material and engineering man‑hour) working as an integral part of a project team.
- Typical drawings may include one‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, feeder/circuit sizing, and conduit/cable schedules.
- The Engineer may conduct drawing searches in engineering records and will perform field investigation and walk‑down work as required.
- Position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry‑level requirements to ensure employees in the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
- DoD and DOE experience is preferred.
- Work may be required outside normal business hours and sometimes on short notice.
- NQA‑1, glovebox systems, electrical and manufacturing experience is a plus.
Education and Experience
- B.S. Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET‑accredited college or university and 3 years of applicable progressive experience. The degree may be substituted for experience.
- Q Clearance preferred but at a minimum must have ability to qualify for a Q clearance.
- Criminal Background Check.
- Pre‑placement Drug Screening.
