Job Overview
Mid-career Electro-Mechanical Technologist on the Responsive Nuclear Deterrence (ND) Architectures team, based in New Mexico. The role supports the safety, security, and reliability of the nation's nuclear deterrents through the development and maintenance of advanced technologies.
Work is challenging, dynamic, and requires high accuracy. The position is onsite, and the candidate may be required to travel within the U.S. up to 25% of the time.
Responsibilities- Assemble, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, or repair/rework PCBs, cables, and other electrical equipment.
- Perform soldering work for assembly and repairs.
- Assist senior members in assembling systems to meet project schedules and test schedules.
- Provide support for field activities such as testing support at environmental test facilities.
- Perform quality inspection using standard equipment such as multimeters, microscopes, and other specialized test equipment.
- Assist with electronics lab management tasks, including parts inventory.
- Receive on-the-job training as needed.
- High school diploma plus three or more years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. DOE Q security clearance.
- Availability to travel within the U.S. up to 25% of the time.
- Associate’s degree in an engineering or electrical field of study.
- Intermediate to advanced solder and rework skills, including familiarity with soldering iron use.
- Experience with inventory and documentation management.
- Proficiency in quality inspection of cables and PCB boards, such as electrical continuity checks, isolation checks, voltage probing, and microscope inspection.
- Experience in fabrication and assembly of test fixtures and enclosures, including 3D printed or machined components.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork and communication.
- Experience working with classified and hazardous materials or hardware.
$63,800 – $123,400 (estimated). Actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

The position requires a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain this clearance.
