Financial Aid Counselor

DACC Dona Ana CC is hiring a Financial Aid Counselor I. The role involves advising students and families on financial aid options, managing awards, ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting research on aid-related issues, and coordinating administrative tasks to support student access to funding and success.

• Advise students and parents on financial aid options and FAFSA completion.
• Manage financial aid awards, appeals, loan processing, and specialized aid programs.
• Conduct research using systems like NSLDS and COD to resolve aid-related issues.
• Collaborate with departments, develop policies, and participate in outreach activities.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies.
• Required education:
  Associate's degree plus 2 years relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree.
• Preferred qualifications include financial aid or higher education experience and Spanish proficiency for effective community engagement.
• Compensation ranges from $43,908.80 to $54,885.74, commensurate with qualifications.
• Work involves office setting with occasional standing, walking, and minimal physical effort.
• This is a full-time exempt staff position without bargaining unit affiliation.
