DescriptionThe Shop Technician is responsible for supporting all aspects of shop operations, including material handling, equipment operation, production support, basic mechanical maintenance, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and general shop organization. This role works closely with production personnel to prepare materials, maintain equipment, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
Successful candidates are dependable, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Compensation$22.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience
Responsibilities- Receive, organize, stage, and transport customer materials and inventory.
- Load, unload, and move materials using appropriate equipment and safe lifting practices.
- Prepare materials for machining, coating, sandblasting, finishing, and shipment.
- Operate shop equipment while adhering to all safety requirements
- Assist with production, fabrication, assembly, and finishing operations.
- Perform basic inspections and verify completed work meets quality standards.
- Support routine equipment maintenance and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Assist mechanics and technicians with repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through labeling, tracking, and organization.
- Package, prepare, and stage completed orders for shipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and PPE standards.
- Perform other shop and production support duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Ability to read work instructions and basic drawings
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Work in a noisy industrial environment with exposure to dust and moving equipment
- Wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel‑toe boots
- Safely operate industrial equipment and maintain awareness of surroundings
