The LPN Infection Preventionist evaluates resident care quality and outcomes related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI) according to all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. The role includes collecting, preparing, and analyzing HAI data, presenting findings, and recommending appropriate actions. The individual monitors associate compliance with infection control standards, prepares and presents education for staff, residents, and families, and serves as a resource to all departments.
Education,Experience, And Licensure Requirements
- Attended an accredited LPN program
- Currently licensed/registered in applicable state, maintaining an active Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) license in good standing throughout employment
- CPR certification at hire or obtained during orientation; must remain current during employment
- Specialized IPC training beyond initial professional training or education prior to assuming the role; re-evaluate knowledge and skills if facility’s population changes and obtain additional training as necessary
- Prior experience with geriatrics preferred
- Certifications or training per state requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse)
Job Requirements
- Designated associate responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies including CDC
- On-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response activities, following current CDC recommendations
- Works onsite at the physical facility; not an off-site consultant or remote IP
- Responsible for development and accountability of the Antibiotic Stewardship Program
- Maintains current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices
- Performs work within scope of license
- Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices and relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in post-acute care facility
- Implements and interprets programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program
- Performs proficiently in all applicable competency areas
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
- Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completing mandatory Code of Conduct and other compliance training
