A Level III Trauma Center serving the Four Corners region is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join its emergency services team. Located in the San Juan River Valley of northwest New Mexico, this 198-bed hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services and serves communities across New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.

Position Overview

The Emergency Department RN will provide care in a busy 48-bed emergency department that treats a diverse mix of medical, surgical, behavioral health, and trauma patients. Working within a team nursing and pod-based care model, this role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and experience caring for both high-acuity and routine emergency presentations.

The department is supported by dedicated clinical educators, social work resources, and advanced technology designed to support efficient, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, triage, and provide nursing care for patients presenting with a wide variety of emergency conditions.
  • Manage patients with trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, respiratory conditions, renal disease, psychiatric emergencies, and other acute illnesses.
  • Administer medications, treatments, blood products, and emergency interventions as appropriate.
  • Monitor patient status and respond rapidly to changes in condition.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record.
  • Support patient and family education throughout the care process.
  • Promote a safe, compassionate, and patient-centered emergency care environment.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience required.
  • Emergency Department experience preferred.
  • Experience managing trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation cases required.
  • Current BLS certification required at the time of application.
  • New Mexico RN license or Compact RN license required prior to start date.
  • Candidates without current New Mexico or Compact licensure are encouraged to apply if eligible to obtain licensure before employment begins.
  • Strong critical-thinking, communication, and emergency response skills.
