Position: Staff Specialist - Literacy Mid-Hudson Regional Partnership at Dutchess BOCES

Staff Specialist - Literacy Specialist

The Mid-Hudson Regional Partnership Center (RPC) at Dutchess BOCES is seeking a Staff Specialist to support school districts in improving outcomes for students with disabilities across a four-county region. This position is funded through a five-year NYSED/OSE approved grant serving Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, and Dutchess counties. The Staff Specialist will provide targeted professional development on literacy instruction and offer technical assistance to schools throughout the region.

The individual will collaborate with other RPC Staff Specialists to design, implement, and evaluate programs and strategies that support designated districts in building sustainable systems that improve outcomes for students with disabilities. The selected candidate must hold certification in Special Education and will participate in required NYSED/OSE professional development to support this work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate regional and in-district professional development on Literacy skills and other related topics as needed.
  • Support training initiatives connected to special education, including the Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities.
  • Provide modeling and coaching for teachers on instructional strategies, data collection, and teaching/reteaching practices to support student learning and skill development.
  • Provide in-district support to educators across the 4 county region, including teachers and administrators, as needed.
  • Attend NYSED-sponsored trainings and other professional development opportunities across New York State.

Qualifications:

  • Current New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education required
  • Literacy certification and SAS, SDA, SBL, or SDL certification preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in K12 as a special education teacher
  • Demonstrated experience providing professional development and collaborating with educators is preferred
