Summary

Under the direction of the Foreman, the carpenter plans, remodels and constructs K-12 educational facilities; performs carpentry-related maintenance and assists with other District assignments.

Classified job is announced to all interested applicants. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

8 hours per day/255 days per year/Grade 12 $ 26.30 per hour (2025 - 2026 Support Salary Table)

[Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase]

This position may be underfilled as an apprentice.

Please note:

In addition to the general carpenter qualifications listed, preferred candidates will also have specialized experience in one of the following areas:

* Position:
Concrete forming and finishing skills. Commercial framing and general knowledge of Tgrid ceilings. Finish carpentry. CDL license. Sheetrock installation. Taping and finishing.

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Foreman, the carpenter plans, remodels and constructs K-12 educational facilities; performs carpentry-related maintenance and assists with other District assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Requirements -- Not limited to the following:

1. Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation.

2. Physical, mental and emotional requirements will be developed when needed for purposes of reasonable accommodation.

Educational Requirements:

1. Ability to read and write and perform basic mathematical calculations.

2. Completion of formal apprenticeship preferred.

Knowledge & Ability:

1. Thorough knowledge of commercial construction and carpentry.

2. General knowledge of current building codes and fire codes.

3. Ability to read and follow blue prints and drawings.

4. Knowledge of material safety data sheets (MSDS) preferred.

5. Sheet rock experience.

6. Finish carpentry skills.

7. Framing experience.

8. Experience performing concrete flat work.

Job-Related

Experience:

Four years of experience related to the above tasks, knowledges, skills and abilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses/Certification:

1. Driver's license (CDL license desirable - required for some personnel).

2. Journeyman certificate preferred.
