Corecivic is presently seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Primary Care who has a passion for providing high quality care in an institutional setting. The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Primary Care works under supervision of the facility physician to provide advanced nursing services and patient care to inmates and residents.
Responsibilities Primary Healthcare Services- Conduct thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and medical histories for incarcerated individuals.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, prescribing appropriate medications, therapies, and interventions.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, radiological examinations, and screenings.
- Provide vaccinations, perform health screenings, and promote preventive care measures.
- Perform basic technical skills such as suturing, splinting, and injections.
- Monitor and manage chronic diseases prevalent among incarcerated individuals (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis
C). - Ensure proper medication management, including prescribing, adjusting dosages, and monitoring treatment effectiveness.
- Educate patients on disease management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence.
- Collaborate with specialty care providers for consultations and referrals, when necessary.
- Respond to medical emergencies within the correctional facility, providing immediate assessment, stabilization, and necessary interventions.
- Coordinate with emergency medical services or arrange for transfers to external medical facilities when required.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and training exercises to ensure efficient emergency response.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, dentists, social workers, and other correctional staff.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, providing necessary information, consultations, and referrals.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and medications administered.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality regulations and ensure the security and privacy of medical records.
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing correctional healthcare and professional ethical standards.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in primary care, correctional medicine, and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Engage in continuous professional development activities.
- Provide training and education to correctional staff on primary healthcare topics, as needed.
- Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state/jurisdiction where the correctional facility is located.
- Experience in providing primary care or relevant experience in correctional or underserved populations is preferred.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.
