Summary:

To assist the school staff in providing the fullest possible educational opportunities for each student by minimizing absences due to illness and creating a climate of good health and well-being in the schools

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and nursing area as assigned

Follows all policies and procedures

Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records of students as required

Coordinates school health services with public health services as needed

Reports to parents, school personnel, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters as necessary

Assists with care for children with special needs

Prepares a list for administrators/teachers of students who have specific health problems that might require modifications of physical activities or seating arrangements in theclass

Reports student/staff injuries and accidents to the building principal, assumes authority for care for those needing emergency assistance, and provides supervision for students until they are placed under their parents' care

Maintains contact with the local health department and assists in exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases

Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Holds a valid state license as either a registered or licensed practical nurse

KNOWLEDGE,

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Valid Driver's License
