The starting rate of pay is $102,690 (min) to $131,572 (mid) annually, salary exempt.

Requirements General Definition of Work

Performs difficult skilled technical work coordinating the future orderly growth and development of the Town of Farragut. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Public Services.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises and directs all activities and programs in the Planning Department including planning, zoning, subdivision regulations, zoning ordinance, signage, and related activities.
  • Updates the CIP, develops long and short range plans, gathers, interprets and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations and coordinates Departmental activities with other departments and agencies.
  • Coordinates and conducts site plans and plat reviews for conformance with existing regulations and sound planning practices.
  • Receives drawings, site plans, applications and related documentation for dissemination and review for compliance with existing land use ordinances.
  • Develops recommendations pertaining to planning and development issues and submits to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and/or Board of Mayor and Alderman for review.
  • Adminiters land use regulations including subdivision regulations, municipal codes and state and federal legislation.
  • Conducts site inspections for compliance with planning related requirements and coordinates with the Building Official on Certificates of Completion and Certificates of Occupancy as they relate to completion of site requirements.
  • Participates in site evaluation of properties proposed for development.
  • Manages plan reviews in Bluebeam of projects that require Planning Commision approval and administers comments from other Town staff in plan revisions and approvals reflected in the electronic permitting system.
  • Administers the Town’s Floodplain Regulations.
  • Researches, prepares and submits annexation petitions and notifies all Town Departments, state and federal agencies of incorporation.
  • Prepares documentation required to update, amend and/or develop new land use regulations and prepares resolutions and ordinances when required.
  • Responds to requests for information from local and regional officials, staff members and the public.
  • Researches planning related grants and other funding sources and submits grant applications when appropriate.
  • Directs and participates in annul budget preparations and monitors the expenditure of funds to ensure the accurate accounting of all receipts and expenditures.
  • Recommends and implements operational policies of the Planning Commission.
  • Remains current on pending legislative actions and changes occurring in the municipal planning and development field.
