SUMMARY:

Missouri Walnut Group is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to become an integral member of the accounting team. Our ideal candidate has a natural passion for math and eagerness to learn. Must be a self‑motivated, reliable individual interested in joining our growing organization. This position will be under the direction of the Controller and will be responsible for a variety of accounting assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accounts Payable
  • Setting up and maintaining vendors
  • Processing purchase orders against vendor invoices and lumber grade tallies
  • Accurately review, code and process vendor invoices and reconcile vendor statements
  • Process invoice payments accurately and on time including transmittal of ACH
  • Address and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Able to understand inventory flow and process daily inventory transactions
Payroll
  • Process bi‑weekly payroll through Paycom for hourly and salaried employees
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, garnishments, and company policies
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date human resource files, records, and documentation
  • Perform periodic audits to ensure employee payments are accurate
  • Reconcile monthly benefit bills and approve for payment
  • Analyze payroll data providing reports to management using Excel
  • Annual open enrollment and 401K audit
  • Other duties as assigned
Accounting Support
  • Provide backup support for month end close and accounts receivable
  • Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month end journal entries
  • Assist with Inventory physical and cycle counts
  • Assist with annual audits
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of payroll administration as well as a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with third party payroll software and MS office, especially Excel
  • Strong organizational skills, deadline oriented, problem‑solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities, workflow and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Accuracy and high‑level attention to detail is essential
  • Demonstrate high integrity and ethical standards, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Willing to work above and beyond in order to meet deadlines
  • 8am – 4:30pm
  • Full‑Time In‑Office
