Apprentice Automotive Technician – 90-Day Main-Line Development Program

Crain Kia of Fayetteville is looking for a motivated Apprentice Automotive Technician who is ready to take the next step in their automotive career.

This position is designed for someone who already has experience working in a Quick Lane, Express Lube, or similar automotive maintenance environment and wants the opportunity to develop into a Main-Line Automotive Technician
.

This is not a position where you will spend your time doing oil changes indefinitely. We are looking for someone who wants to learn, develop their skills, earn certifications, and advance.

THE 90-DAY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

For your first 90 days, you will be paired with an Advanced Main-Line or Certified Technician who will serve as your trainer and mentor.

During this period, you will work alongside your assigned technician to gain hands‑on experience with:

  • Brake systems and brake repair
  • Steering and suspension
  • Cooling systems
  • Starting and charging systems
  • Basic electrical diagnosis
  • HVAC systems
  • Maintenance and fluid services
  • Vehicle inspections and identifying needed repairs
  • Proper use of diagnostic and shop equipment
  • Repair procedures and service information
  • Dealership repair‑order processes
  • Manufacturer warranty procedures
  • Proper documentation of diagnosis and repairs

As your abilities develop, you will be expected to demonstrate that you can perform increasingly complex repairs correctly and independently.

TRAINING & CERTIFICATION

Hands‑on experience is only part of the program.

During the 90‑day apprenticeship, you will also be required to complete assigned online manufacturer training and certification courses
.

Progress will be measured through:

  • Completion of required online training
  • Hands‑on demonstrations of learned skills
  • Quality and accuracy of repairs
  • Productivity and time management
  • Proper diagnosis and repair procedures
  • Quality of vehicle inspections
  • Tool knowledge and shop safety
  • Attendance and dependability
  • Ability to accept coaching and apply feedback
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER 90 DAYS?

The goal of this program is advancement.

At the end of the 90-day period, your training, certifications, work quality, productivity, and demonstrated technical ability will be reviewed.

Technicians who successfully complete the program and demonstrate the required competencies will have the opportunity to advance into a Main-Line Technician position with increased responsibilities and earning potential.

Advancement is earned through demonstrated ability—not simply by completing 90 days.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • Previous Quick Lane, Express Lube, tire shop, dealership maintenance, or comparable automotive experience
  • Basic automotive mechanical knowledge
  • Their own basic set of automotive technician tools
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Strong attendance and work ethic
  • Willingness to complete required online training
  • Desire to learn diagnostics and more advanced automotive repair
  • Ability to work alongside and learn from an experienced technician
  • A genuine interest in building a long‑term career as an automotive technician

ASE or manufacturer certifications are a plus but not required
.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who has reached the point where they are ready for more than oil changes and tire rotations.

You may already know how to perform maintenance, tires, batteries, filters, and basic repairs—but you haven’t been given the opportunity or training to take the next step.

We want to provide that opportunity.

If your goal is to become a skilled Main-Line Technician and you are willing to put in the work, complete the training, learn from an experienced technician, and prove your abilities in the shop, we want to talk to you.
