Corporate Strategy, VP/Director of Finance
Highlands Oncology seeks an accomplished, growth-oriented, physician-centric CEO to lead strategic expansion, organizational advancement, and long-term value creation. As the senior non-physician executive, the CEO will partner with the Board, physician shareholders, and physician leaders to set vision, align stakeholders, strengthen performance, and execute through a high-performing leadership team.
Key Experience RequirementsQualified candidates should demonstrate:
- Executive leadership of a complex, multi-site healthcare or physician-practice organization.
- Multi-region or multi-state operations oversight in regulated healthcare markets.
- Full P&L, operating budget, capital planning, and resource-allocation accountability.
- Growth through markets, sites, service lines, partnerships, affiliations, or acquisitions.
- Physician partnership, governance alignment, trust-building, and difficult decision-making.
- Negotiation with hospitals, health systems, payers, vendors, or strategic partners.
- Use of analytics, operating reviews, and leadership teams to drive accountability, quality, compliance, and results.
- Oncology experience is strongly preferred; comparable physician-practice, ambulatory, specialty-care, or healthcare-services leadership may be considered.

The CEO will partner with the Board and physician leaders to:
- Set long-term strategy, growth priorities, governance expectations, and success measures.
- Align strategy, capital plans, operating goals, budgets, and leadership accountability.
- Provide transparent Board reporting on performance, risks, trends, opportunities, and investments.
- Build trust and alignment around mission, values, goals, enterprise decisions, and tradeoffs.
The CEO will lead growth and capital deployment by:
- Identifying and executing organic and strategic growth opportunities.
- Diversifying revenue through clinical, ancillary, pharmacy, research, imaging, radiation, infusion, value-based care, and related services.
- Developing business cases for sites, services, technology, partnerships, acquisitions, and market entry.
- Strengthening referral, community, hospital, payer, and market relationships.
- Ensuring growth is funded, integrated, operationally sound, and aligned with quality standards.
The CEO will oversee a geographically distributed organization by:
- Leading through empowered executives, consistent standards, and local flexibility.
- Overseeing operations across regions, regulatory environments, payer markets, and labor markets.
- Establishing scalable systems, decision rights, communication rhythms, and accountability.
- Improving capacity, throughput, utilization, reliability, and access.
- Supporting new sites with infrastructure, leadership capacity, compliance, and integration planning.
The CEO will be accountable for financial performance, capital allocation, and resource stewardship by:
- Driving margin, cash flow, balance-sheet strength, and sustainable performance.
- Holding leaders accountable for budgets, forecasts, financial implications, and results.
- Improving volume, productivity, staffing, drug costs, denials, reimbursement, profitability, and ROI.
- Negotiating with payers, hospitals, vendors, health systems, management organizations, and partners.
- Balancing financial discipline with quality, access, and physician partnership.
Success will require credibility with physician shareholders and the ability to lead through trust, influence, and sound governance. The CEO will:
- Serve as a trusted partner to the Board, physician shareholders, and physician leaders.
- Build alignment among physicians, executives, functional leaders, and external partners.
- Communicate issues, options, risks, tradeoffs, and implications clearly.
- Represent Highlands Oncology credibly in its communities and markets.
