Richard Construction Inc. (RCI) is currently seeking experienced Safety representatives.

Duration of Job: 2-5 years

Position Summary

Represents and mentors Safety Best Practices for RCI from planning through execution of assigned Projects or Jobs.

Job Description:

  • Ensures RCI Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) guidelines are utilized as appropriate at all times
  • Maintains an inventory of Richard Safety Handbooks for distribution to, and for use by, new employees
  • Pro-actively works with RCI construction management team(s) on assigned projects to develop Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) and to assist the management of the SSSP requirements for the site(s)
    • Ensure SSSPs address all Emergency Response Plans, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) review and acceptance, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), waste management protocols for disposal or recycling, etc., or other site specific procedures as required
    • Ensures vetting of and compliance with Client and RCI lower tier Subcontractor safety systems, as appropriate, to ensure RCI safety performance
    • Evaluates the need for personal protection equipment, fire protection equipment, and other related equipment or supplies required to mitigate risks to employees
  • Capable of providing site safety orientation for craft or staff that confirms expectation of Richard Safety Policy compliance and for any additional Client specific requirements in excess of Richard standards
  • Advises RCI construction management team(s) of safety gaps and works with the team(s) to close gaps, including development and tracking of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), when required
  • Participates as a mentor in Weekly Safety Communication (All-Hands) Meetings, Tool Box Talks, Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), etc.
  • Performs daily audit reviews of Work Permits, JSAs, Confined Space Logs, or any other documentation governing the expectations of task safety planning through safety execution in the field
  • Reports Incidents or Near Misses as required
  • Monitors administration of site first-aid services and coordinates emergency rescue services when appropriate through previously established communication channels
  • Assists Incident Reviews, Investigations, or Root Cause analyses, as appropriate within RCI or with Client representatives
  • Develop good working relationships with Clients

RCI has various levels of Safety Representatives based on experience and skills generally ranked as follows:

  • Safety Supervisor - Greater than 15 years experience with greater than $10 million projects
  • Safety I - Has 10 to 15 years of experience with OSHA 30 Certification
  • Safety II - Has 5 to 10 years of experience with OSHA 30 Certification desirable
  • Safety III - Has less than 5 years of experience with OSHA 30 Certification desirable

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • Safety experience in Projects, Turnarounds, or in Maintenance of Industrial Work Sites
  • TWIC
  • Must have a stable work history
  • For Safety Supervisor or Safety I positions, previous management or supervisory experience
  • Must follow all company and site rules and regulations
  • Ability to work with others - Team player
  • Commitment to Richard values, safety rules, and regulations

Reports to Position:

  • These positions will report to the RCI Director of Health & Safety or their Safety designee in the project or job matrix organization

Physical Requirements:

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting
  • Will use arms and hands to signal or warn personnel, as required, of unsafe conditions
  • May be required to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight
  • Will climb to heights, climb ladders and stairways, and for monitoring craft work off of platforms/scaffolding, and also use the appropriate fall protection when required
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs/muffs, safety vests, gloves, steel toe/safety toe boots, and masks/respirators
