Safety Officer
C.R. Crawford Construction is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to support and enhance the company's safety culture across active construction projects. This position is responsible for conducting field safety audits, ensuring regulatory compliance, identifying and mitigating workplace hazards, supporting project teams with safety-related needs, and promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
The Safety Officer serves as a key field resource for project teams by providing consistent on-site safety oversight, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, supporting training initiatives, and reinforcing company safety standards. This role works closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, Trade Partners, and field personnel to ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable OSHA regulations.
Due to the nature of the position, frequent travel between active jobsites is required. The Safety Officer functions as a highly visible field representative and plays a critical role in maintaining accountability, safety awareness, and operational excellence across multiple projects.
Occasional evenings, weekends, or emergency response support may be required depending on project activities, incidents, or client requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial construction operations.
- Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with field personnel and project teams.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to conduct jobsite inspections, audits, investigations, and safety training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and proactive safety culture.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
- Experience in construction safety, field operations, risk management, or a related construction role.
- Experience conducting jobsite safety inspections and audits.
- Experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Experience supporting multi-site construction operations.
- Experience conducting safety training and coaching field personnel.
- Experience working with general contractors and subcontractors.
- Experience with incident investigations and corrective action planning.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
- OSHA 500 Trainer Certification
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- First Aid / CPR Certification
- Other safety-related certifications applicable to the construction industry
- Support implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety accountability across all projects and business units.
- Assist with development and continuous improvement of safety programs and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across active project sites.
