NEWS, the TEGNA CBS station in Fayetteville-Fort Smith, AR
is looking for a bold, creative, and collaborative Content Manager to help lead our editorial strategy. This leader will drive a story‑centric, audience‑first content operation — ensuring every story we pursue starts with why it matters and lives where the audience is: broadcast, streaming, web, mobile, and social. We’re seeking someone who thrives in urgent, high‑stakes environments, champions accountability journalism, and fuels a team to create distinctive local stories that break through — not just fill time slots.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coach the content team — producers, reporters, photojournalists, anchors, and story desk editors.
  • Own the story‑first editorial vision and execution across all platforms.
  • Drive real‑time, enterprising, and impact‑focused coverage for newscasts and 24/7 streaming and digital experiences.
  • Lead breaking news with confidence and clarity — publishing early, updating often, and maximizing audience engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Story Management Desk to shape and elevate coverage across platforms and dayparts.
  • Prioritize storytelling that provides context, solutions, and community value — not just headlines.
  • Use real‑time analytics to guide decisions and sharpen performance.
  • Ensure seamless transitions between dayparts with strong story handoffs and planning.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, urgency, and inclusive, ethical journalism.
  • Coach content creators on writing, visual storytelling, vertical video, and multiplatform best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
  • 3‑5+ years in a professional newsroom, with proven success across platforms.
  • 2+ years newsroom leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead during breaking news and high‑pressure moments.
  • Mastery of multiplatform storytelling and content distribution.
  • Deep understanding of audience needs on linear, OTT, digital, mobile, and social.
  • Experience with analytics and data‑informed editorial decisions.
  • Proficiency with newsroom systems (e.g., ENPS, Cuez), CMS tools, and social platforms.
  • Passion for innovation, story‑driven journalism, and serving the community.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Benefits

TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families. TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full and part‑time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance.

Our 401(k) program offers full, part‑time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre‑tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.

  • Some jobs are covered by a collective bargaining agreement and thus some or all of the benefits described herein may not apply. For example, some newsroom bargaining unit employees receive health and retirement benefits under plans administered by the union.
