The College and Career Coach serves as an extension of the Assistant Principal and Counselor to provide support relating to academic guidance, career exploration, and post secondary transition support for junior high school students. The College and Career Coach will work with students and families to connect them to available resources while ensuring the student is on a pathway toward high school graduation that aligns with their goals for after high school, whether that be college, career, or military service (enrolled, employed, or enlisted).
The ideal candidate is customer service-oriented, has strong communication skills, and can effectively engage with junior high school students and their parents. This role will focus on post‑secondary transitions, academic planning, career exploration, and graduation requirement fulfillment to ensure each student is on track for success.
Essential Job Functions- Support counselors in the development and maintenance of a College and Career Exploration framework for students in Grades 7–8.
- Collaborate with business and community partners to provide career exploration opportunities, including company visits, mock interviews, and job shadows.
- Work closely with the Career and College Center to enhance career readiness initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and parents, utilizing Naviance and other platforms to communicate career education opportunities.
- Manage and track post‑secondary plans in Naviance for all students.
- Meet, individually, with students and parents to review their student success plans at least twice a year.
- Support counselors with post‑secondary advisory lessons.
- Collect and analyze data related to student experiences and post‑high school outcomes.
- Attend meetings and professional development as assigned by the Principal.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students, parents, and the community.
- Strong skills in computer operations and data management, including proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and web design.
- Energetic, self‑directed, and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑through on student academic and career planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and community partners.
- Associate’s Degree or two (2) years of relevant work experience.
- Experience and/or knowledge of junior high school career exploration programs.
- Knowledge of Arkansas Department of Education graduation requirements.
- Knowledge of Fayetteville Public Schools’ course catalogue.
- Experience with college planning, promotion, and financial aid assistance programs.
- Familiarity with College and Career Readiness Programs at the high school level.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
- Experience working with Naviance or similar student career planning software.
- Previous experience in junior high school counseling, career advising, or academic planning.
- Background in event planning and coordination, particularly with career fairs and student workshops.
- Graduate Degree in any field.
This is a classified position, focused on ensuring every student is supported in their journey toward graduation, college, career, or military service.
Contract Details:
8 hours per day
210 contract days per year
Position Type: Full‑Time
