Primary PurposeSouthwest ISD is seeking an energetic, innovative, and student-centered educator to serve as a Principles of Audio/Video Production Teacher. The ideal candidate will provide engaging, hands‑on instruction that introduces students to the foundational skills of audio/video production, digital media, storytelling, broadcasting, editing, and production technology.
This teacher will create a classroom environment that promotes creativity, technical skill development, collaboration, and career readiness while aligning instruction to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and industry expectations.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level (Required Certification: Technology Applications)
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Ability to teach and manage a classroom/lab environment effectively
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of student engagement strategies and project-based instruction
- Ability to build a highly engaging and industry-relevant classroom program
Student teaching, clinical teaching, teacher residency (preferred)
Experience teaching or working in:
- Audio/Video Production
- Broadcasting
- Digital Media
- Multimedia Design
Film / Video Editing
Experience using industry-standard tools such as:
- Cap Cut
- Camera and audio equipment
- Hands‑on CTE instruction and student media production projects
- Teach Principles of Audio/Video Production courses in alignment with TEKS and district expectations.
- Develop and deliver engaging, project-based lessons focused on:
- Video production
- Editing software
- Storyboarding
- Script writing
- Broadcasting
- Prepare students for advanced coursework and future pathways in:
- Audio/Video Production
- Digital Communications
- Film
- Broadcasting
- Graphic Design / Multimedia
- Integrate industry-relevant tools, software, and equipment into daily instruction.
- Maintain and manage classroom/lab equipment, cameras, lighting, microphones, editing stations, and related technology.
- Foster a safe, organized, and highly engaging learning environment.
- Utilize instructional strategies that support diverse learners and promote student achievement.
- Collaborate with campus staff, CTE leadership, and industry/community partners to enhance student opportunities.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records for grades, attendance, and program documentation.
- Participate in district and campus professional development, meetings, and required trainings.
- Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
