As we continue to grow and plan for future staffing needs, Fayetteville Montessori School invites passionate and dedicated individuals to apply for our Early Childhood Assistant Guide roles. This is an open call for those interested in working with children ages 6 weeks through 5 years in a supportive, collaborative Montessori environment.
This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to begin or deepen their journey in Montessori education, with opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and future sponsorship in Montessori credentialing programs

Fayetteville Montessori School, established in 1974, is a year-round program serving children from infancy through elementary. With 4 levels across multiple campuses, we are committed to cultivating independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning through authentic Montessori practices.
Our classrooms are thoughtfully prepared environments where children engage in hands‑on learning, guided by Montessori educators. Assistant Guides play a vital role in supporting the classroom community and helping each child thrive.
Position SummaryAssistant Guides support the Lead Guide in maintaining a nurturing, orderly, and engaging classroom. This role includes helping implement daily routines, supporting children’s independence, and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
This is an entry point into Montessori education

- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience working with young children (infant, toddler, or early childhood settings)
- Interest in Montessori philosophy and child development
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Warm, patient, and respectful approach with children
- Reliable, collaborative, and adaptable team member
- Desire for professional growth and continued learning
- Support the Lead Guide in maintaining a prepared Montessori environment
- Assist with daily classroom routines including transitions, meals, rest time, and outdoor play
- Help ensure the safety, supervision, and well‑being of all children
- Foster independence by guiding children through appropriate choices and activities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom space
- Collaborate with classroom team members and administration
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with families and staff
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development
- Assist with classroom documentation and daily communication tools (e.g., Brightwheel)
- Model positive behavior, grace and courtesy, and professionalism at all times
- Support a classroom culture that is inclusive, respectful, and child‑centered
- Other duties as assigned by the Lead Guide or Administration

- On‑site coaching and mentorship from experienced Montessori educators
- Internal professional development and training
- Sponsorship or support for Montessori credentialing programs (based on role, performance, and school needs)
- Growth into Lead Guide or specialized roles within the school
Assistant Guides can expect to:
- Work in a classroom environment with regular outdoor time
- Stand, sit, bend, and move throughout the day
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs as needed
- Actively engage with children, staff, and families
