Summary ofJob Duties
The Scholarship Professional I assists in recruitment and retention efforts by conducting walk‑in appointments with prospective students and current students regarding scholarship opportunities and application procedures. The SSA helps develop a new student scholarship application pool by assisting prospective students via email, phone, and walk‑in instruction about the process. This position provides accurate data for scholarship application review and consideration by calculating scholarship GPAs.
This includes maintaining calculation procedures, along with training and evaluation of others who assist with GPA calculation. The SSA assists the program coordinator to develop scholarship application processing workflow standards so as to provide correct and complete pools for each application cycle. This position is responsible for maintenance of the general scholarship e‑mail account and assists in reviewing scholarship applications for new and current students.
Regular, reliable, and non‑disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of specialized training in business management, business education, or a related field
- At least four years of experience in administrative support
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Experience in manipulation of database programs such as Excel or Access
- Experience using a student information system such as Workday Student
- At least one year of experience in a student‑facing higher education administrative role
- Experience in customer service
- Knowledge of department operations, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements
- Knowledge of computers and software applications
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple many‑faceted projects with others
- Ability to present scholarship and aid opportunities accurately and positively to current and prospective students and families
