Fayetteville Public Schools is seeking a passionate, organized, and collaborative band director for an opening at Ramay Jr. High School. The ideal candidate will foster students’ introduction to band and their exploration of beginning to intermediate instrumental experiences in a positive, organized, and enthusiastic manner. This position involves teaching beginning brass and woodwind classes, as well as 8th grade intermediate band to students grades 7 and 8, as aligned with the Arkansas Department of Education Music Standards, as well as supervision of extracurricular rehearsals, performances, and activities.
This position will also support the Fayetteville High School Band throughout the marching and concert seasons, and work collaboratively with the Fayetteville Public Schools Band program.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing daily instruction in beginning brass and woodland classes to students grades 7-8
- Providing daily instruction to the Ramay Jr. High 8th Grade Symphonic Band
- Responsible use of instruction budget and resource management as they relate to the needs of the band program
- Supervision of an advisory class
- Providing, Coordinating, and Overseeing performance opportunities for students including a beginning band show case, winter concert, spring concert, all-region audition support, and solo & ensemble.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Supporting building level needs as required by principals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or related field (required)
- Valid Arkansas teaching license in Instrumental Music, or the ability to obtain one (required)
- Experience working or teaching Junior High level students in a Band setting
- Strong knowledge of instrumental music pedagogy, development, and performance techniques
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative learning environment
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position aligned with the Fayetteville Public Schools academic calendar and after school responsibilities as they relate to school and program needs
