Job Duties

The University of Arkansas School of Law is pleased to announce that it is currently seeking applicants for a 9-month, 100% appointed, tenure/tenure track assistant, associate or full professor (based on qualifications) starting in the  academic year to teach the Criminal Practice Clinic. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to direct and teach the Criminal Practice Clinic each semester.

They will supervise student law practice, teach the clinic seminar, manage the clinic's docket, and provide students regular feedback, including through weekly supervision meetings. They will also collaborate with other faculty and clinic staff on matters related to administration of the clinical program. In addition to teaching, faculty who teach in the clinical program also engage fully in scholarship and service at the law school.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • A distinguished academic record
  • Demonstrated scholarly promise
  • A law license and two years of legal experience
  • Eligible for admission to the Arkansas bar
  • Experience teaching, mentoring or supervising law students, legal interns, or attorneys

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Tenure-track teaching experience, experience as a visiting law professor or fellow, or one or more years of other clinical teaching experience
  • Three or more years of practical legal experience
