This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position on the Searcy campus. Schedule includes teaching two evenings per week.

The role of the Instructor of Adult Education is to offer instructional methods and materials to help the adult education student make basic educational gains in the subject areas of Reading, Math, and Language, as well as help the student earn the Arkansas High School Diploma by successfully passing the GED exam.

The teacher will also assist the Adult Ed Career Coach with monitoring students who are working toward completion of the WAGE Level One employability certification.

• 1. Instruct students in the Adult Education classroom with emphasis on CCR standards. Develop student learning plans, assist students with problems, develop group lesson/activities.
• 2. Guide/instruct students enrolled in the WAGE employability certification program. Assist the WAGE Coordinator with employability lessons and help the students with online components of WAGE .
• 3. Attend required workshops and trainings, both in-person and online. Complete professional development as required by the state of Arkansas. Maintain a current Arkansas teaching license.
• 4. Assist with intake and entrance testing, as well as post-testing. Counsel students regarding their learning plans and keep plans updated as student works toward completion of his/her respective goals.
• 5. Create learning plans for and guide students who are studying online (distance learning).
• 6. Assist with recruitment and retention efforts for the ASUB Adult Education program as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Four year college degree in any relevant field of study, such as Education, English, Math, History, etc.
• Experience General: 2 years related experience and/or training.
• Required: Current Arkansas Department of Education teacher’s license.

Licensure in Adult Education – If a teacher does not have the Adult Ed certification, he/she must obtain within three years of the date of hire of initial employment as a full-time Adult Education Instructor.
