Summary ofJob Duties
The Data Science Program Teaching Associate Professor is a 12-month 100% appointed, non-tenure track position that provides instruction and assists with the development of course materials for the undergraduate and future graduate Data Science Program and undergraduate and future graduate Data Science Program course sequence, supports academic advising to undergraduate and graduate data science students, supports summer orientation for future graduate data science students, and serves on college and university committees as appropriate.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. or similar terminal degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, or closely related fields (e. g., computer science, statistics, operations research, industrial engineering) from an accredited institution of higher education; conferred by the start of employment
- Demonstrated effective experience as a teacher for undergraduate and graduate data science, data analytics, or closely related fields courses at the third-year and fourth-year levels
- Experience with programming in Python, R, and SQL
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams
- A record of sustained excellence in teaching and scholarship
- Recognition for teaching excellence at a regional or national level
- Ability to display a commitment to undergraduate and graduate data science students in developing their academic skills, especially upper-level students
- Ability and interest in developing graduate level course work in data science
