Overview
Structural Engineer – Fayetteville, Arkansas. As part of the Water Design Center's Structural Group, the Structural Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the development of Structural Designs in support of various Water Business Line projects. The majority of assignments will involve developing structural designs for new water and wastewater treatment plants or improvements to existing facilities.
Responsibilities- Develop detailed drawings and specifications as needed for each project, including structural designs for water and wastewater treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, and site retaining walls.
- Prepare design calculations and coordinate with other support disciplines, regional offices, and regulating agencies.
- Contribute to construction cost estimating and quality assurance and control.
- Assist the Group Leader with coordinating schedules, monitoring budgets, and delivering work products that adhere to Garver standards.
- Provide structural support for a variety of water and wastewater projects and ensure designs meet project requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 1+ years of technical experience in structural design engineering
- Basic understanding of structural engineering design in concrete, masonry, and structural steel
- EIT or ability to obtain a PE registration within 24 months
Skills:
- Master's Degree in civil or structural engineering
- Registration as a Structural Engineer or willingness to take the NCEES Structural Engineer exam within 2 years
- Working knowledge of Revit CAD programs
- Understanding of structural complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment
- Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team including process, structural, building mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & control disciplines
- Active participation in local professional trade organizations
Some travel may be required, as projects may require field work for site assessment and support during construction.
