CAD Technician

CAD Technician – Fayetteville, Arkansas

As part of the Water team in Fayetteville, AR, the CAD (Civil 3D) Technician will develop civil engineering designs for various water and wastewater projects within Garver's Water Business Line as well as supporting site and civil projects. The designer will work hands‑on with detailed design, collaborate with teams of designers and engineers, and produce high‑quality work in a rapidly growing business line.

The Civil Technician provides technical and design support for projects primarily focused on water and wastewater treatment plant designs. Other projects include pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and auxiliary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure. Typical tasks include facility layouts, grading using Civil3D tools, paving and drainage plans, and demolition plans. The designer also models, lays out, and profiles significant yard piping networks and plans for gravity and pressure systems within treatment facilities.

Additional responsibilities include coordination with other disciplines, quantity estimating, and quality assurance and control.

• Coordination of survey services
• Developing detailed plans and details
• Ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standardization
• Developing civil standards, tools, procurement, and training

• Accurately completing drawings based on markups and detailed direction
• Organizing drawing structures and files in accordance with company standards
• Adhering to layering standards, line types, line widths, and plot styles
• Generating plan and profile drawings complete with station numbering
• Using gravity and pressure pipe networks
• Developing cross sections, calculating volume and plan quantities
• Reading and taking information from as‑built drawings to develop existing condition models
• Generating coordinates, boundary information, and survey information
• Maintaining consistent design procedures across a variety of projects and producing record drawings

• High school diploma
• 1+ years of experience with Civil 3D

• Experience using Autodesk software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Experience in civil engineering design
• Associate's Degree in CAD or a similar 2‑year degree
• Experience with BIM file sharing software
• Experience using Revit
• Previous experience designing plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects
• Strong knowledge base of engineering principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience using Bluebeam and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)
• Strong teaching and coaching skills to help new team members
