Electrical Engineer – Water Design Center

Location:

Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Garver is looking for a mid to senior‑level Electrical Engineer to support projects for its water business line. The role offers hands‑on design experience, client interaction, mentorship, project management, and marketing participation across high‑volume, custom plant projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed designs for water and wastewater treatment electrical power distribution, standby power generation, motor starting, and lighting systems.
  • Coordinate with instrumentation, control, and other engineering disciplines to align project requirements.
  • Create one‑line diagrams, power plans, grounding and lightning protection plans, and lighting plans for industrial facilities.
  • Engage electrical equipment vendors, prepare design calculations, and coordinate with support disciplines.
  • Work with regional Garver offices and regulatory agencies on construction cost estimating, schedules, budgets, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standardization.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Develop details and specifications.
  • Perform power system studies.
  • Coordinate schedules and monitor budgets.
  • Ensure quality program compliance.
  • Develop electrical design standards, tools, procurement, and training.
  • Assess industrial electrical equipment and systems.
  • Provide on‑site advisement to clients for electrical issues and improvements.

Some travel may be required for site assessment and construction support. Candidates must be able to collaborate closely with project team members and maintain a positive, productive team environment.

About Garver’s Water Design Center

The Water Design Center is a knowledge‑based hub specializing in large, high‑volume, custom treatment plant projects with advanced technologies. It coordinates across multiple locations to deliver high‑quality design and project delivery schedules.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Six or more years of direct design experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Competence in power distribution and standby power generation systems.
  • Experience overseeing and developing electrical designs for industrial facilities, including detailed plans and specifications for major projects.
  • Field experience in technical electrical problem resolution.
  • Understanding of plant‑wide water and wastewater treatment system processes.
  • Experience with power system studies including short‑circuit analysis, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash.
  • Ability to develop low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution systems.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Understanding of electrical complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong teaching and coaching skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Water / Wastewater consulting experience.
  • Knowledge of power system modeling software such as SKM Power Tools for Windows and Easy Power.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit CAD programs.
  • Experience with instrumentation, controls, and SCADA design.
