Position

Purpose:

Responsible for business development and growth of residential loans and bank products.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Make outside sales calls to potential and existing customers to develop new business and retain current business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local realtors, developers, and builders to encourage use of Firstar Bank services for residential mortgages.
  • Generate Mortgage Loans to achieve established loan quality and production goals.
  • Interview applicants and request information needed to perform a sound review of the applicant qualifications.
  • Request applicant credit records, background checks, reference checks and other information pertinent to loan applicant’s evaluation as necessary to meet investor requirements.
  • Coordinate closing arrangements with the title company, applicant and other parties to assure timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of and provide guidance on bank products and services appropriate to customers.
  • Stay current with FNMA underwriting guidelines, current regulatory guidelines and new loan programs.
  • Obtain and maintain NMLS license.
  • Provide quality service to all customers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all customer and employee information.
  • Set production goals to meet budget requirements for year.
  • Direct and supervise Mortgage Processor(s) to see that lending guidelines and compliance are followed with each loan.
  • Make sure all training, education, and license requirements are met by direct reports.
  • Perform annual reviews and salary evaluations for direct mortgage staff.
  • Manage Pipeline to ensure files are being closed on a timely basis.
  • Represent Firstar Bank in various civic and community functions to further enhance its image and develop or promote additional business/consumer relationships.
  • Complete annual training as required.
  • Participate in bank/community activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of mortgage lending principles and practices as well as knowledge of government/compliance regulations.
  • Advanced financial analysis skills, strong negotiation and sales skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit analysis.
  • Well-organized and good time management skills.
  • Ability to be proactive and positive when building relationships with customers.
  • Comfortable with working in a team environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, without close supervision, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization to include coaching and management.
  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience and Education Requirements
  • Mortgage/residential experience is preferred but not required.
  • Outside sales experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Typically requires sitting for long periods of time with frequent keyboard/mouse usage and intermittent stooping, bending and walking.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds which may include the need for independent mobility: bend, reach, or kneel.
  • Visual and auditory skills are required.
