Aboutthe Role
Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Responsibilities- Provide exceptional intraoperative support by anticipating surgeon and team needs while maintaining strict sterile technique.
- Prepare, inspect, and manage surgical instruments and equipment to ensure safe, efficient procedures.
- Support smooth surgical operations through effective communication with physicians, circulators, and team members.
- Demonstrate strong technical skills in assembling, operating, and maintaining routine and specialty surgical equipment.
- Contribute to an efficient surgical environment by optimizing workflow, conserving resources, and proactively assisting with room turnover and case preparation.
- Adapt to changing assignments, workload demands, and departmental needs with professionalism and flexibility.
- Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required. This is a certified technologist (CST) position. The Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program per the National Board of Surgical Technology is required. Maintain certification without gaps. You may be asked to provide proof of education.
- Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
- Experience: New graduate up to experienced surgical technologist experience.
- Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to perform job-related functions safely and successfully, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
Strong technical skills in assembling, operating, and maintaining routine and specialty surgical equipment.
Preferred SkillsExperience in a surgical environment and effective communication skills with team members.
