EducationJOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Geosciences or related field. Advanced degree(s) in similar or related fields preferred but not required.
While not required, any of the following certifications are preferred:
- GISP (Certified GIS Professional)
- ESRI Technical Certifications, especially those related to Enterprise GIS Administration
- GIS Certificate from an accredited college or university
Minimum seven years related experience in GIS roles with progressive responsibility for GIS project design, data analysis, and technical troubleshooting and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Knowledge & SkillsMust have proficient knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), enterprise system administration, and spatial data management. A high-level understanding of the following skills and their application in an ISP, utility, enterprise environment is required:
- ArcGIS Enterprise administration and architecture
- GIS application development and web mapping
- RDBMS Administration (SQL Server, Postgre
SQL, Oracle), SQL query writing, geodatabase design and maintenance - System integration and automation, proficiency in scripting with Python, Arcade, JavaScript, and Power Shell
- Data governance, security, and compliance
- Cross-department collaboration (IT, engineering, operations, business development)
- Administer and maintain the ArcGIS Enterprise ecosystem, ensuring performance, security, scalability, and reliability of GIS servers, services, and databases.
- Develop and maintain custom GIS applications, web maps, dashboards, and automation scripts to support operational and business needs.
- Integrate GIS platforms with enterprise systems such as asset management, SCADA, outage management, NISC, and NOC
360. - Utilize APIs (including ArcGIS REST API) to extend GIS functionality and enable system interoperability.
- Manage enterprise geodatabases, including versioning, replication, backups, and disaster recovery planning to support multi-user editing environments.
- Monitor GIS server logs, usage statistics, and performance metrics; perform troubleshooting and performance tuning as needed.
- Automate GIS and data workflows using Python, SQL scripting, and ETL methodologies.
- Coordinate closely with company IT on hardware, network, authentication, and security-related issues to ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across all spatial datasets.
- Oversee GIS operations and initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational and operational goals.
- Provide project management support by prioritizing GIS initiatives, managing timelines, and coordinating resources.
- Manage GIS-related budgets, software licensing, and departmental policies.
- Collaborate with internal departments including IT, engineering/operations, and business development to deliver effective GIS solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for GIS systems and workflows.
- Complete any IT/Security training as assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
