Summary ofJob Duties
The Descriptive Data Analyst – Space Planning supports the Campus Space Management Program by collecting, integrating, and analyzing data to inform space planning, allocation, and utilization across the university. This role contributes to a campus wide effort to maximize existing space, support future growth, and enable transparent, data-informed decision-making.
Key duties include:
- Collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data related to property management and campus space/building management across multiple systems
- Designing, developing, and maintaining interoperable, linked databases within a Microsoft ecosystem (e.g., Power BI, SharePoint, Microsoft Fabric)
- Supporting and maintaining centralized systems including room-level data collection, validation, and reporting
- Developing dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support space planning, capital planning, and operational decision-making
- Supporting forecasting, utilization analysis, and scenario planning for campus space allocation and management
- Partnering with campus planning, facilities management, research and innovation, and governance committees to standardize, align, and integrate datasets
- Supporting property management by building and maintaining a searchable, integrated database of leases, properties, and related data
- Executing sound data management practices, including data quality monitoring, compliance, and system performance
- Communicating findings in clear, actionable formats for leadership and campus stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, information systems, statistics, business, or a related field
- Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills as evidenced by application materials
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools (SharePoint, Excel)
- Basic experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI or similar)
- Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Share Point
- Experience with ArcGIS or other geospatial analysis tools
- Experience developing or supporting linked databases or integrated data environments
- Experience working with structured data systems (e.g., surveys, inventory systems)
- Basic experience with parcel, title, and land records data, including structure, attributes, and common data sources
- Basic knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools
- Experience working with higher education, facilities, space management, or property data
- Familiarity with FICM, NCES, and NACUBO standards
- Knowledge of data management practices, including data cleaning, validation, and governance
- Knowledge of reporting, dashboard development, and data visualization techniques
- Skill in analyzing and synthesizing data from multiple sources into clear insights
- Skill in using Microsoft data tools and platforms (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, Fabric)
- Ability to design and maintain organized, accessible data systems
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, user-friendly insights for diverse audiences
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams and governance structures
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate data clearly in written and verbal formats
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality
