Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to become an integral part of our payroll office. In this role, you will take ownership of a wide range of payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance while providing exceptional support to employees. Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll-related inquiries, delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Accurately upload, process, and verify payroll data to ensure timely payment for all employees.
  • Perform payroll coding corrections using Viewpoint and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Prepare and report certified payrolls, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Record and manage all pay related to Short-Term Disability (STD), maintaining thorough electronic documentation.
  • Ensure employee changes are entered correctly and promptly in payroll systems.
  • Input fuel usage reports and maintain detailed records.
  • Track and manage hourly and salary vacation, sick leave, and other time-off balances.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and employment verification requests with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to local and government agencies, maintaining compliance.
  • Help team members with other projects as needed.
Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in each essential duty and possess the following qualifications:

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a data processing environment or at least one (1) year of payroll operations experience.
  • Exceptional alpha/numeric data entry skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word and Excel), email, and a willingness to learn new software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high ethical standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage individual deadlines and work collaboratively within a team to achieve collective goals.
Work Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a vehicle.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality at designated start times.
  • Strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Team-oriented mindset, with willingness to assist colleagues and supervisors as needed.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home as required.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Compliance with OSHA and/or MSHA regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in person.
  • Proficient use of computers for communication, document preparation, and data management.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift objects up to 30 lbs. unassisted.
  • Occasional exertion of pushing or pulling forces up to 10 lbs.
