Job Overview

Senior Healthcare Information Data Scientist – Clinical (Epic).

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and develop solutions using software programs and queries to retrieve complex data from databases.
  • Apply theoretical expertise and innovation to create or apply new technologies.
  • Support EHR and other clinical or business information system database application build and maintenance.
  • Configure EHR and other clinical or business information system applications, including building worklists, Boolean rules, populating master files, CDM, and adapting vendor model clinical documentation tools.
  • Build and configure EHR and other clinical or business information system reports and distribute configurations.
  • Complete assigned tasks in project and tracking systems, documenting completion promptly to prevent delays.
  • Document and maintain application design and build documents, including Visio workflow diagrams, build trackers, and IT Service Management records.
  • Participate in interface planning, design, and testing.
  • Contribute to test script creation and perform testing tasks as assigned.
  • Engage in project pre‑work, configuration, testing, training, activation, and post‑live support and stabilization.
  • Identify and plan for current and future customer requirements.
  • Analyze complex business and technical problems.
  • Lead operational work groups, documenting completed work and next steps.
  • Compile and assess user feedback, gather requirements for application configuration, and review application build.
  • Document and communicate decisions, task assignments, and deadlines.
  • Guide workflow design, building and testing systems, and analyze related technical issues.
  • Work with training team to develop training materials.
  • Support cutover and activation activities for functional area.
  • Review project status and issues with leaders regularly.
  • Implement approved changes to the system.
  • Liaise between end‑user workflow needs and vendor implementation staff.
  • Maintain regular communication with vendor representatives and participate in project team meetings.
  • Troubleshoot problems, respond to questions, and coordinate network, hardware, and software service requests.
  • Provide primary support contact for application end‑users.
  • Provide after‑hours support through on‑call duties for critical systems.
  • Proactively review, recommend, and implement data security, integrity, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Stay current on emerging information technology relevant to assigned clinical or business areas.
  • Respond on a 24/7 on‑call basis to application and customer problems, addressing issues in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate’s Degree in Business Administration/Management required;
    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Data Science preferred.
  • Experience:

    3‑5 years of computer programming.
  • Operational experience, project management skills, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of software business intelligence, data analysis, data mining, compiler/decompiler, user interface, enterprise application integration, job scheduling, and server and network monitoring.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for precision data models, queries, and programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming, data modeling, simulation, statistics, and mathematics.
  • Ability to parse data in CSV and XML formats, applying regular expressions and mathematical transformations.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • EPIC Systems certifications (e.g., Bugsy Infection Control, EPIC Bones, Epic Care, Epic Phoenix, Epic MyChart, Epic Dermatology, and others).
Physical Demands
  • Subject to call back at all times and must travel to any area of the organization, both local and remote, and provide own transportation.
  • Required to sit for extended periods and perform light work involving up to 25 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
  • Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis, transcribing, and extensive computer work.
  • Typical office conditions, with no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
