Position: CUSTODIAN - PARKS 2025 - 02890

The starting rate of pay for this position will be within 15% of the grade range minimum. The final rate will depend on experience and qualifications.

The grade range for this position is:

  • Minimum: $14.74
  • 15% Minimum: $16.95
  • Market: $17.76
  • Maximum: $22.02

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation: This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive working relationships, and ensure regular, reliable attendance.
  • Maintain a clean and healthful environment for employees and park patrons.
  • Perform groundskeeping duties such as trash pickup, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, setting up and cleaning up for events, graffiti removal, dusting, glass cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, spot cleaning walls, buffing floors, snow and ice removal, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in various division tasks including grounds, facilities, equipment maintenance, athletic fields, and urban forestry.
  • Install holiday lights, often working from aerial lifts and ladders.
  • Perform semi-skilled physical labor involving operation of light and heavy-duty equipment for construction, maintenance, and repair of park facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED required; one year of related experience preferred.
    • Valid Driver’s License required.
    • Must pass criminal background check, including checks for violent offenses, theft, offenses against children, or other disqualifying convictions.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to operate cleaning equipment, hand and power tools, mowers, bush hogs, utility vehicles, trailers, tractors, backhoes, and other equipment.
    • Physical ability to communicate effectively, stand, walk, sit, handle objects, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift up to 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities required.
    • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.
