Job Title: Lumber Yard Foreman

Reports To: Yard Manager

Position Summary:

The Lumber Yard Foreman is responsible for overseeing the

daily operations of the lumber yard, ensuring efficient and safe handling,

storage, and distribution of lumber and building materials. This role includes

supervising yard staff, managing inventory, coordinating deliveries,

maintaining equipment, and upholding safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of yard personnel, including training, and performance management.
• Ensure proper loading, unloading, stacking, and storage of lumber and related products.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with regular cycle counts.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing loads for quality and accuracy.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and ensure all staff are trained and certified.
• Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards.
• Monitor yard cleanliness and organization to maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
• Coordinate with sales, purchasing, and logistics teams to fulfill customer orders and delivery schedules.
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of yard equipment and tools.
• Address and resolve customer service issues or complaints related to yard operations
• A strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service is essential, as this role directly supports our goal of ensuring every customer has a positive and professional experience.
• Additional duties may be assigned by manager or supervisor as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or certifications a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a lumber yard or building materials environment.
• At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
• Strong knowledge of lumber types, sizes, and grades.
• Proficient in forklift operation; current forklift certification preferred.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management systems.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 100 lbs) and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Work Environment:

• Primarily outdoors in a lumber yard setting.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and noise.
• Frequent lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Schedule:

• Full-time, typically Monday through Friday and every other Saturday (will be off another day during the week when working Saturday).
