Registered Triage​/Float Nurse

Summary

The Registered Triage/Float Nurse I will use the nursing process to provide direct and indirect patient care in the Primary Medical Clinic. The role focuses on walk‑in and telephone triage and has a high degree of autonomy.

Obtain patient history and perform physical assessments, wound care, IV therapy, assist with minor surgical procedures, administer medications, apply orthopedic devices, provide immunizations, and train/on‑board new triage and float nurses. Attend to urgent/emergent situations, cross‑train in clinic areas, and maintain reliable attendance and collegial relationships. Provide telehealth services during campus closures.

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.
• Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of registered nursing experience.
• Recent IV experience.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing with at least five years of registered nursing experience.
• Certification in ambulatory or telephone nursing practice.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
• Wide range of nursing skills focused on patient assessment.
• Experience in ER and acute care triage or college health setting.

• Knowledge of psychiatric conditions and medications.
• Knowledge of wound assessment and care.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures and communicable diseases.
• Knowledge of adult immunizations.
• Excellent physical and assessment skills.
• Excellent communication skills, face‑to‑face and telephone.
• Excellent IV skills.
• Ability to communicate with a diverse patient population.
• Ability to assist with office surgical procedures.
• Ability to cross‑train in all clinic areas.
• Ability to apply removable orthopedic devices and custom splints/casts.
• Ability to work independently and follow protocols.
• Ability to provide patient education.

$61,735 – $67,908 (commensurate with education and experience).
