Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports the operations of a Bio Life Plasma Center under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician. The role involves assessing donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and EHS standards.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, HIV education, medical history interview, and physical examination.
- Perform blood testing and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE) results.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders from the Center Physician.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate evaluation by occupational health or ER as required.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, assisting investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a state‑required nursing program.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- State‑required basic IV therapy qualifications.
- Completion of FDA‑approved Bio Life Medical Support Specialist training.
- At least two years of clinical or hospital experience.
