SUPPORT NURSE - LPN - HIGHLAND HOUSE

Liberty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services offers a challenging but rewarding opportunity in a caring environment.

Assist in assuring the best patient care possible by supporting nursing personnel (including charge nurse and Director of Nursing) on a specified unit during assigned work hours. May need to take call for staffing coverage, assist with resident care under the Nursing Practice Act, and supervise non‑licensed nursing personnel under RN supervision.

• Delegate duties to non‑licensed nursing personnel and monitor performance under RN supervision and help prepare work schedules.
• Assist in Quality Assurance data collection for analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Assist with infection control for the unit and adhere to all regulations concerning cleanliness, infection control, and standard precautions.
• Assist with records, orders, and assessment of new admissions to the unit and ensure the initial nursing assessment is completed.
• Complete assigned resident assessments as directed by the MDS Nurse or Director of Nursing.
• Attend scheduled nurse department meetings.
• Monitor and measure decubitus ulcers weekly, complete integument watch assessment forms accurately, and collaborate with other departments to implement unit and patient needs.
• Report any potential performance issues by employees to the RN for disciplinary consideration and document concerns on appropriate forms.
• Assist with lab requests as ordered per facility policy, repost lab work, review results, and notify the attending MD per established protocols.
• Respond to emergencies while on duty, performing CPR if needed, and assist with emergencies on other units as required.
• Notify the attending MD of any patient changes, illnesses, emergencies, or deaths.
• Implement changes in orders as instructed or ordered by the MD.
• Assist with general duties such as rounds with doctors, checking and updating MD orders, verifying completeness of nursing summaries, and ensuring timely nursing records.
• Provide hall coverage as needed.
• Coordinate the healthcare team, including rehabilitation aides' duties and assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing in accordance with the NC Board of Nursing Practice Acts.

• High school graduate.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current, valid license in North Carolina and proof of license renewal.
• Experience providing quality nursing care to patients, following doctor’s orders, and a genuine interest in geriatric nursing.
• CPR certified yearly with attendance at in‑service training and staff meetings.
• Ability to make sound decisions regarding nursing and unit problems, recognizing serious consequences for patients and staff.
• Capacity to work well under pressure, solve problems, and perform varied tasks.
• Familiarity with and adherence to personnel, department, facility policies, and local, state, and federal requirements.
• Ability to maneuver medication carts, treatment carts, and other nursing equipment.
• Subject to background checks and commitment to a drug‑free workplace.
