The Nurse
- Quality Management Registered Nurse functions as an advanced clinician and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Other responsibilities included but not limited to the following:
Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients. Demonstrates sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives. Supports safe, high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of organizational quality and performance activities across service lines.
Assists in policy development, supports accreditation readiness efforts, and collaborates with leaders and staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and evidence-based practice. Contributes to organizational culture efforts supporting safe, high-quality healthcare for Veterans. Participates in several facility councils, committees, and work groups. Responsible for their assigned quality management program area activities for the Medical Center and all off-site locations. Collects data, monitors staff compliance with relevant policies, directives, and standards, provides reports detailing trends, and provides direct staff support to all services in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and administering, a comprehensive quality management program area.
Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting. Leads the implementation of high reliability principles and I CARE values to increase consistency of care delivered and improve patient outcomes. Demonstrates the ability to improve the effectiveness of communications and interactions with others, to inspire their cooperation and confidence to ensure safe and effective outcomes in the current practice setting.
Participates in the advancement of the profession through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching. Leads patient care improvement through monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating care outcomes in the immediate practice setting. Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
