LPN – Outpatient

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Contribute to assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
• Adhere to the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas, UAMS policies, procedures, standards, and care guidelines
• Observe patients, chart, and report changes in patient conditions
• Provide basic patient care and treatment
• Administer prescribed medications and start intravenous fluids
• Measure and record vital signs
• Assist patients with standing, walking, bathing, dressing, and moving in bed
• Supervise nurses' aides and assistants
• Answer patient calls and determine how to assist
• Collect blood, urine, and sputum samples and perform routine laboratory tests
• Clean rooms and make beds
• Inventory and requisition supplies and instruments
• Record food and fluid intake and output
• Model UAMS Core Values in compliance with company guidelines
• Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned

• High School, GED, or formal educational equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program
• Associates Degree in Nursing
• One (1) year of work experience in clinical nursing
• Current Arkansas Licensed Practical Nurse license
• Current CPR certification
• Strong clinical knowledge and technique
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Strong patient advocacy and patient education skills
• Oral, written, and persuasive communication skills
• Ability to build collaborative relationships
• Ability to make independent judgments with highly significant organizational impacts
• Strong customer service orientation
• Intermediate computer skills
• Professional and courteous telephone etiquette
• General knowledge of office machines, including printers, fax machines, and scanners
• Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
• Position subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification

Demonstrates strong clinical knowledge and technique as a Licensed Practical Nurse, providing direct patient care, administering medications, and performing routine laboratory tests while adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and UAMS policies. Exhibits effective communication and patient advocacy skills to build collaborative relationships and ensure high-quality patient care.
