Position Summary

The role of the Registered Nurse
- Neuro IR reports to the Cardiovascular Services Manager. This position is responsible providing care to patients having procedures in the Neuro IR Endovascular Lab. This position performs a variety of technical and nursing functions, which requires reasonable independent judgement under moderate supervision. This position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of a care plan of patient including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation.

Position Responsibilities
  • Provide care to patients with procedures in the neuro IR endovascular lab.
  • Efficiently assists in patient prep including: assessment, IV starts, medication administration, and other nursing duties.
  • Cares for and monitors patients in the intra-procedure phase.
  • Provides needed assistance to other coworkers to ensure adequate patient care.
  • Assists in achieving quality patient care, national patient safety goals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including: patients, patient families, physicians, coworkers, volunteers, community partners, and vendors.
  • Strives to improve and facilitate patient care and satisfaction supported with evidenced based practices.
  • Uses good problem-solving techniques, shows initiative, and finds creative ways to overcome challenges.
  • Understands the age-specific needs, including care, communication, and safety needs for the patient population served.
  • Efficiently and effectively coordinates admission care and direction of patient care for elective admission patients with physicians, the scheduling departments, and all ancillary departments.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Licensure and

    Certifications:

    Registered Nurse license BLS, required. ACLS required within 3 months. ASLS required within 6 months. Annual dysrhythmia must be completed.
  • Experience:

    Previous experience in Neuro IR Endovascular Lab, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, or Electrophysiology experience, preferred.

Work Environment:
This position spends 80% of work time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position spends 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position has exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, radiation, and chemicals.
