Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Data Scientist, Research Scientist
Position Overview
The Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies (CAST) at the University of Arkansas invites applications for up to two, two-year, 12-month Postdoctoral Fellow positions in geomatics and/or spatial data science.
CAST seeks a colleague who can work collaboratively with diverse scholarly communities and has transdisciplinary interests that strengthen links with Geosciences, Anthropology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, and related units. Methodological and theoretical experience in geomatics, or in geospatial analysis and remote sensing is required. Research interests are open, with particular encouragement for candidates strong in sensor modeling, surface reconstruction, InSAR and related high‑resolution rapid‑revisit optical systems, automated image matching and registration, error propagation, historical imagery, LiDAR, database design, and experimental uses of 3‑D data.
Novel applications of spatial data for heritage and archaeology, Arctic science, and other ecological and environmental contexts are also welcome. The successful candidate must have a strong research record, including external grant support and publications. Fifty percent of the postdoctoral fellow’s time will be dedicated to self‑directed research, and fifty percent will be spent integrating and coordinating with existing CAST research projects, depending on areas of interest.
The position includes a competitive salary and provides access to lab facilities, equipment, and institutional research funding.

- Demonstrated expertise and funding capabilities, including publications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience applying methodological and theoretical expertise to problems in multidisciplinary settings
- Ability to complement and enhance the existing research capabilities of the Center
