Walden Security is currently recruiting experienced Court Security Officers. CSOs will provide armed security to courthouses under the USMS contract.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform entrance control:
Enforce the District’s entry and identification system which includes operating security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items, checking items such as handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, wheelchairs, etc. - Perform roving patrol:
Patrol court facilities and grounds in accordance with applicable post orders. - Perform stationary post assignments:
Stand guard at stationary posts monitoring closed‑circuit television, duress alarm systems and other security equipment, courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms. - Perform escort duties:
When directed, provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals. - Perform garage parking and pedestrian control:
Direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties as described in the post orders and/or SOP. - Enforce law and order:
Enforce federal law while performing assigned duties, detaining any person attempting unauthorized access to government property or a court proceeding, or attempting to commit acts imperiling safety. - Prepare reports and records:
Prepare various reports and records regarding contract performance issues such as labor hours, accidents, fire, bomb threats, unusual incidents, or unlawful acts. - Court attendance:
Secure unattended courtrooms, inspect courtrooms prior to a proceeding, test security devices, and perform duties concerning security of the court area. - Preserve order:
Provide security presence in the courtroom, enforce federal law and local court rules, and protect court proceedings as circumstances dictate.
- Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED. At least three (3) calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law‑enforcement officer or equivalent, with all three years within the last seven (7) years. Experience must include general arrest authority. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, and to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures. - Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid driver’s license from state of residency with a safe driving record for five years; DOJ clearance; completion of a certified federal, state, county, local or military law‑enforcement training academy with certification. - Other
Qualifications:
At least 21 years of age; ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check. - Physical Demands:
Meet medical standards specified by the USMS; physical demands are contract‑based. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
