Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform entrance control: enforce the district’s entry and identification system, operate screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items, and check items such as handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, and wheelchairs.
- Perform roving patrol: patrol court facilities and grounds in accordance with applicable post orders.
- Perform stationary post assignments: stand guard at stationary posts including monitoring CCTV, duress alarm systems, courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms.
- Perform escort duties: provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designated individuals when directed.
- Perform garage parking and pedestrian control: direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties as described in the post orders or standard operating procedures.
- Enforce law and order: enforce federal law while performing assigned duties, detain unauthorized persons, and protect the safety and security of government employees, property, and the public.
- Prepare reports and records: prepare reports on contract performance issues such as labor hours, accidents, fire, bomb threats, unusual incidents, or unlawful acts within the court facility area.
- Court attendance and preservation: secure unattended courtrooms, inspect before proceedings, test security devices, and enforce federal law and local court rules in the courtroom.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED. - Experience:
At least three (3) calendar years as a certified law‑enforcement officer or military equivalent within the last seven (7) years, with general arrest authority. - Language skills:
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and interpret rules, regulations, directives, and procedures. - Certificates and licenses:
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for five years; DOJ clearance; completion or graduation from a certified federal, state, county, local, or military law‑enforcement training academy with certification. - Other qualifications:
Minimum age 21, able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check. - Physical demands:
Meet USMS medical standards and be able to perform essential functions of the job, with reasonable accommodations available if needed.
